Hazel and James Kachelries of Tamaqua are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married on Nov. 12, 1960 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Middleport, Pa., by the late Rev. Pollack.

Mrs. Kachelries is the daughter of the late Elias and Maude (Reinhart) Hartranft of Tamaqua. Her husband is the son of the late Mahlon and Esther (Kunkle) Kachelries of Middleport.The Kachelries have three children: Hazel Borosh, wife of Gary of Jim Thorpe; James Kachelries Jr., of Tamaqua; and John Kachelries, husband of Anne (Kachmer) Kachelries.They also have eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.The Kachelries were the guests of honor at a surprise party held at the West Penn Rod and Gun Club in West Penn Township, where they also renewed their vows.
