Schuylkill crashes

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on three crashes investigated by troopers along Schuylkill County roadways over the past weekend.

A one vehicle crash occurred about 9 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 17, along SR501 near the Berks County line in Pine Grove Township. Troopers said Alexandra Z. Gensemer, 19, of Pine Grove, was driving a 1997 Chevrolet S10 Blazer southbound and down a steep grade while negotiating a right curve. Troopers said she was traveling at a high rate of speed when she lost control on the wet road. The truck began to fishtail and slid into the oncoming lane. Gensemer attempted to steer back into her lane and over-corrected with the truck sliding back across the southbound land and spun 90-degrees clockwise.The truck then slid onto the soft dirt and rocky shoulder where it rolled over one and a half times coming to rest on its roof facing northwest about 40 feet from the road.Gensemer was temporarily trapped in the vehicle but was freed by rescue personnel. She was then transported by ambulance to the Hershey Medical Center for treatment of injuries. The truck was demolished in the crash.Gensemer was cited for driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed.Troopers investigated a one vehicle accident about 8:30 a.m. on Friday along Trumbo Road, in Pine Grove Township. Troopers said Lisa D. McMillin, 25, of Pine Grove, was driving a 2006 Mazda 3 northbound when she lost control on the wet road. The car slid into the oncoming lane and McMillin attempted to steer back into her lane and over-corrected.The car then crossed back over the travel lanes and onto the northbound shoulder where the front left side impacted with a tree.McMillin, who was wearing a seat belt, was transported to the Schuylkill Medical Center-E. Jackson St., Pottsville, for treatment of what troopers said was a major injury.Troopers said McMillin will be cited for driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed.Another one vehicle crash occurred about 3:03 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18, along SR901 (Golden Nagle Trail) in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Joseph D. Brennan Jr., 19, of Minersville, was driving a 1993 Chevrolet Silverado truck eastbound when he swerved to miss a vehicle in front of him, which also had swerved abruptly to avoid another vehicle. The truck then traveled through the east/westbound lanes and struck a tree along the berm.Brennan and his passengers, Josh Malley, 20, of Pottsville, and Chris Terway, 20, of Minersville, were all not injured.Troopers said Brennan was cited for traveling on roadways laned for traffic.Troopers investigated a one vehicle crash about 8 p.m. on Saturday along SR901 in Barry Township. Troopers said Holly S. Herbst, 54, of Hummelstown, Dauphin County, was eastbound when a deer entered the road in front of her. Her 1997 Volkswagen Jetta struck the deer.Herbst and her passenger, Mark Herbst, 45, same address, were not injured.
