The construction of a new pavilion at its borough park could cost Walnutport $424,273.
Five companies submitted bids to the borough on Tuesday, with Nimaris Construction, of Bath, turning in the apparent low bid of $364,347 for general construction.Other companies who bid were Serfass Construction, of Allentown ($379,900); CC. Inc. Construction Services, of Bethlehem ($387,700); Kobalt Construction, of Swiftwater ($394,800); and Dolan Construction, of Reading ($398,000).The borough also received bids from three companies on prime construction contracts for plumbing construction and electrical construction as well.For plumbing construction, KC Mechanical Services, of Mount Bethel, submitted the apparent low bid of $28,000. Dolan Construction bid $28,500, while Kobalt Construction bid $31,800).As for electrical construction, ACE Electric, Inc., of Allentown, turned in the apparent low bid of $31,926. Dolan Construction bid $32,000, while L$S Electric Construction, of Lehighton, bid $49,104.A special meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday to review and accept the bid for the renovations at 215 Lincoln Avenue, and to conduct any other business.The pavilion is a component of the second phase of the Walnutport Playground Improvements project, which also includes the band shell, as well as grading around those two areas.As part of that phase, the current pavilion and bandshell will be demolished, and a new pavilion and bandshell will be built and adjoined to the multipurpose building. Also, a walking path will be extended.The borough will use a portion of the $337,000 in fees collected from the Mount Airy Casino Resort in Monroe County it received last year to pay for the pavilion.The borough was among several local municipalities to benefit from a provision in state law that required Monroe to give half of its host fee to adjoining counties, or those municipalities there within.
