Girl Scouts in the heart of Pennsylvania will hold a registration night, for the summer program on July 8, at St. John United Church of Christ. This event is free and open to the public.The band performs show tunes, marches, overtures and music of yesteryear.The playground is located along Mountain Avenue. Rain date will be July 15.Breiner's School reunionA general reunion is being planned for students who attended the former Breiner's Number 2 School in the Lewistown Valley. Rodney Wells will officiate at the 9 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. The service will include a Joyous Noise Offering. Sunday school classes meet at 10:15 a.m.Also Sunday, the church board will meet starting at 10:45 a.m., and orientation for new members will be held at 10:45 a.m.This Thursday, the Prayer group will meet at 5 p.m. and the Worship and Music Committee will meet at 7 p.m.Activities for next week will include: Monday, Food co-op at 9 a.m.; Wednesday, Retirees meet at 10 a.m.; Friday, Youth group camp out.Senior newsThe Tamaqua Senior Citizens group met last week with 77 members in attendance. President Jean Machamer conducted the business session.Eleanor Roberts offered the invocation, "Within the House of God." Secretary Eleanor Schmerfeld, Vice President Doris Brobst and treasurer Dolores Walck provided reports.This week's meeting will be preceded by a Health Fair, from 9-11 a.m.The next meeting will be held July 8, at 1 p.m., at the Tamaqua Community Center, located to the rear of Boyer's Food Mart.Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join.Rush citizensThe Rush Township Concerned Citizens Watchdog Group will meet this Thursday, at 7 p.m., at the Hometown Fire Company.
