Jose Arroyo, 51, of 201 E. Kline Ave. Apt. 7, Lansford, faces charges from an incident which took place at that address on April at 8 at 4:32 a.m. Charges were filed by Officer Jeffrey Ohl.
Arroyo was charged with simple assault and harassment. He was arraigned before District Judge Joseph Homanko and jailed under $2,500 straight cash bail.According to an affidavit of probable cause, Ohl was dispatched to a domestic case with an assault at 201 E. Kline Ave., Apt. 7. while en route, dispatch advised him that they heard screaming in the background, then the phone went dead.Upon arrival, Ohl spoke with a Julie Fritchman, who said she had gotten into an altercation with her boyfriend, Jose Arroyo. Fritchman said Arroyo started yelling at her after she refused to make him something to eat. Fritchman said Arroyo became irate and grabbed her by the arm as she attempted to call 911.Fritchman said Arroyo then hit her in the back of the head and pulled her hair, then proceeded to grab her phone and hang up while she was on with the dispatcher. Fritchman said she fled the apartment and waited in the hallway for police to arrive. She gave police a written statement.
