A Tamaqua woman was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police observed her behind the wheel of a motor vehicle.

According to Summit Hill police, on March 4, around 3:37 a.m., police observed Denise Koons, 47, of 429 Owl Creek Road, sitting behind the wheel of a motor vehicle at boat launch B at Mauch Chunk Lake, Summit Hill.Upon investigation, officers found that Koons was under the influence of alcohol.She was charged with DUI.
