The West Penn Girls Softball organization will be accepting applications for the coming season on Feb. 6 and Feb. 13. Registrations will be held at the West Penn Municipal Building, both dates, from 9 a.m. - noon. Broad St. The committee will then meet every Monday, same place and time, to work on decorations for the annual All Night Party.Writers' groupThe Black Diamond Writers' Network will meet Jan. 16, from 10 a.m.- noon, at the Tamaqua Public Library, 30 S. Railroad St. Guest speaker will be Priscilla Huff, author of the best selling "101 Best Home Based Businesses for Women, third edition." Her topic will be the five preliminary steps to writing an effective book proposal and what publishers want to see most in a book proposal.The public is welcome to attend.The BDWN is a nonprofit organization offering writing education and networking opportunities. Dr. David Grant will officiate at the 10 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Trinity United Church of Christ. The service will include words for young Christians. Nursery care is available during the service. The meeting will be held at 230 Race St., beginning at 7 p.m. Anyone interested in working towards improving the ward is welcome to attend.
