The Carbon County Redevelopment Authority honored the late Richard A. Merluzzi, who passed away in October, for his 30 years service on the board.
The Honorable Carbon County Judge Roger Nanovic spoke of Merluzzi's legacy in a heart-warming speech. A citation was read from Rep. Keith McCall, Speaker of the House and the House of Representatives.Merluzzi served as chairman of the Redevelopment Authority board for many years.He was also a member of the United States Armed Forces, stationed in Korea; a former president of the Lehighton Lions Club; director of the Lehighton Library; a member of the Lehighton Police Commission, and a volunteer for the American Red Cross.He was recognized around his community as a dedicated volunteer. His son Bill is now carrying on the legacy.Phyllis (Bolton) Rochette also spoke endearingly of the man and what he did for the county.
