Route 54 in Rush Township was closed to traffic after a tractor trailer rolled taking down several utility poles. The crash occurred just before 1 p.m. Tuesday as the operator was transporting a bulk tanker filled with lime to a plant in Nesquehoning. The driver apparently lost control of the rig as he was going east, rounding a curve in the roadway. The unit left the right berm rolling onto its right side with several utility poles being snapped off with their wires hanging over the roadway. The driver was treated at the scene by members of the Ryan Township ambulance and transferred to an area hospital. Rush Township police are investigating the crash.
