The 32 students and staff at Behavioral Health Associates, Inc. at the Packer Ridge Academy in Packerton have a better chance of surviving a heart attack, thanks to the donation of an automated external defibrillator by Berger Construction Company, Route 940, Jeddo.
An AED is a portable electronic device that automatically diagnoses the potentially life threatening cardiac arrhythmias of ventricular fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia in a patient and is able to treat them through defibrillation. The application of electrical therapy stops the arrhythmia, allowing the heart to reestablish an effective rhythm. The devise was donated in honor of Leonard Ogozalek, for his "constant dedication and devotion to helping others."The devise was valued at $1,649.
