Nesquehoning teen admits to assault

A Nesquehoning teen, who was adjudicated to adult court, pleaded guilty on Thursday in Carbon County court to aggravated assault and indecent assault on a woman in a wooded area in Lansford.

Dean Tessitore, 17, was charged by Lansford police with brutally beating a then 39-year-old woman on April 3 in a wooded area in the Andrewsville section of the borough. He was also charged with making the woman perform a sex act with him.Police said Tessitore was walking with the woman in an area off the east end of Ridge Street when he started to assault her. He beat her about the head and face "severely" police said and then when she begged him to stop, he made her perform a sex act on him. After she did he again started to assault her.The woman managed to run from the woods to a nearby home where she got help. She was hospitalized for two days, according to Assistant District Attorney James Lavelle.President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II accepted the pleas and noted that the aggravated assault count was a felony one and the indecent assault a misdemeanor one.Nanovic said in the standard range of state sentencing guildines Tessitore faces a prison term of between 22 to 36 months on the aggravated assault count. Nanovic also said that the indecent assault charge falls under the provisions of Megan's Law meaning Tessitore will have to be evaluated by the state Sexual Offenders Board to determine if he is a violent sexual predator. If he is, then he must register for life his residence and place of employment and must notify authorities if he moves. If not, he still must register for 10 years.Nanovic deferred sentencing pending the evaluation and also ordered the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation (PSI) report.
