A New Jersey woman was seriously injured Wednesday night when involved in a two car crash at the intersection of state routes 309 and 443 in South Tamaqua, West Penn Township, at the former Leiby's restaurant. The crash occurred at 6:30 p.m. Township police chief Brian Johnson reported a car carrying several young adults was traveling north on 309 and attempted to make a left turn onto 443 west. In doing so the driver pulled into the path of a southbound car operated by a female driver from New Jersey. The female driver was treated at the scene by members of the Penn Mahoning ambulance, Lehighton paramedics and West Penn Township physician Dr. Peter Baddick. She was flown via PennStar helicopter to St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill. The young adults did not appear to be injured.
