No one knows what happened to 1,000 sewer bills mailed out by a Schuylkill County community.

The bills were mailed by the McAdoo Sewer Authority office but never delivered and the U.S. Postal Service doesn't know what happened to them.According to a news report, Kelly Hoherchak, officer manager, mailed the bills on Oct. 30 at the McAdoo post office. She had a receipt for $273.88 to prove she mailed them.The bills were then sent to the Lehigh Valley processing center outside Bethlehem. That is where the mystery begins. The bills were never received and no one at the center apparently knows what happened to all the bills.Hoherchak said she began to realize something was wrong when several residents called her office saying they never received their monthly sewer bill. Hoherchak has no explanation except to say she mailed them but the postal service can't tell her what happended to them.A postal service surpervisor traced the bills from the McAdoo post office to the Lehigh Valley center. A postal service supervisor could not offer an explanation saying only that it is rare mail is lost and that they could have been shipped somewhere else.In the meantime residents are asked to contact the McAdoo office of the sewer authority concerning their bill. The authority is also hoping to get a refund of the $273.88 paid for the mailings.
