Indications are that the peak of the flu epidemic that hit this area last week, forcing the closing of schools and cancellation of football games and social events, may have been reached. Immaculate Conception grade school in Jim Thorpe remained closed, but classes continued in other Jim Thorpe schools. Regional schools that reopened today were West Penn Township, Mahoning Township, East Penn Township, Palmerton, Summit Hill, and Coaldale. Nesquehoning and Marian Catholic will reopen tomorrow.
