World reknowned duo Tuck and Patti debut at Opera House

JTAMS Productions present world renowned voice and guitar duo Tuck and Patti at the Mauch Chunk Opera House, 14 W. Broadway, Jim Thorpe on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 8:30 p.m.

Christie McGorry, JTAMS publicis, said, "Picture a double date of Wes Montgomery and Michael Hedges cruising around with Ella Fitzgerald and Tina Turner, in a rag top Chevy driven by Bobby McFerrin. Now paste that image into the Mauch Chunk Opera House and you may come close to imagining the performance and virtuosity of one voice and one guitar which is Tuck and Patti."The acclaimed duo comprised of Vocalist Patti Cathcart and guitarist Tuck Andress are from the quite yet vibrant town of Menlo Park California. They have been a steady performing duo for three decades and are known the world-over as an innovative guitar and voice duo. Over a career of jazz, R&B, and crossover recordings, husband-and-wife duo Tuck and Patti have produced a remarkable amount of music. In the early years of touring, the duo found themselves in the company of people they had only dreamt of even meeting, let alone sharing the stage with: Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Count Basie, Cab Calloway, Joe Pass...the list goes on and on.With over a dozen recordings and tours that have spanned the globe, Tuck and Patti have infused their repertoire with a collection of tunes from the great American Song Book to jaw-dropping arrangements of Jim Hendrix classics and Sly & The Family Stone.Hugging a vintage 1940's Gibson L5 Jazz guitar, Tucks signature sound is strikingly powerful, his style of playing joins traditional classical finger styling with Jazz, Funk, Blues and Rock phrasings all unleashed in mind bending and beautiful compositions.Enter Patti, with the vocal candor of a Sunday morning choir, the unbridled energy of Tina Turner, and the emotive passion of Mahalia Jackson. She drives, pitches, croons, and scats with a deeply anchored resonance that immediately pervades her listeners. Her spirited compassion finds itself equally directed at both Tuck and the audience. The result is an intimate musical conversation that involves everyone, moves everyone, shakes everyone."We want people to leave feeling like something has happened," Patti insists.Doors open at 7:30 and the concert begins at 8:30.To reserve tickets by phone, or for more information, call (570) 325-0249.
