A vehicle was destroyed by fire on Monday, Oct. 12, in an incident in Carbon County.

State police at Lehighton said Joseph A. Small, 36, of Palmerton, was driving a 1992 Corvette westbound along Little Gap Road, in Lower Towamensing Township, about 8 p.m. when flames and smoke began to come from the engine compartment. Small pulled to the side of the road and exited the vehicle. Lower Towamensing Township Fire Company volunteers responded to the scene.Small was not reported to be injured but the car was "unsalvageable", troopers said.
