Construction is underway at the Normal Square intersection for the new traffic signal. At this juncture construction workers are in the process of installing new curbing at the intersection, including the corner where the Normal Square Mini-Mart is located.
"Frequently drivers are cutting through the parking lot to avoid having to wait while flagmen are directing traffic," said Mahoning Township Police Chief Kenneth Barnes. "They are cutting through the gas pumps and if customers are at the pumps, they are cutting through a lane by the front door. And they are not driving slowly while doing so. There have been a few near misses of customers and employees of the mini-mart. It is illegal to do this."Police will be monitoring this situation and violators will be cited.
