Two Schuylkill County businesses have been cited by the state liquor control board's Allentown enforcement office.
Trippin Billie tavern, located at 114-116 N. Centre St., Pottsville, was cited for four alleged violations of the liquor code. The board cited the business for permitting smoking in a public place where smoking is prohibited; failed to post signage as required by the Clean Indoor Air Act; sold, furnished and/or gave or permitted such sale, furnishing or giving of alcoholic beverages to one male minor, 20 years of age; and permitted one male minor 20 years of age to frequent licensed premises.Also cited was Eagle Beverages, 221 E. Market St., Orwigsburg, for issuing checks or drafts in payment for purchases of malt or brewed beverages, when there was insufficient funds in, or credit with, the institution upon which drawn for the payment of such checks.These charges will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses up to $5,000 for more serious offenses. In addition, the judge can also impose a license suspension or revocation of the license based on the severity of the charge brought.
