Thefts, break-ins probed in Schuylkill

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported investigating theft and break-in incidents at several Schuylkill County locations.

Troopers said a U-Haul transport unit was removed from the Sant Petroleum property at 489 Pottsville/St. Clair Highway in Norwegian Township, sometime between Sept. 11-16. The unit will have the U-Haul logos on it and have Georgia registration plate of LE43515.The unlocked vehicle of James S. Corotto, 711 First St., Mechanicsville, was entered while parked near his home, sometime between Thursday, Sept. 17, at 9:30 p.m. and 1 a.m. on Friday. Removed from the car was a cellular phone, iPod, compact discs and some cash. Total estimated value of the missing property was set at $735.Troopers said another vehicle entry occurred at the residence of Josette L. Wallick, 436 W. Savory St., Palo Alto, during the period of Thursday at 6:30 p.m. and Friday at 9:45 a.m. Removed from Wallick's vehicle was a Garmin GPS unit.Troopers are investigating a burglary at the Kegs & Kases, located at 501 SR61, in North Manheim Township. The building was entered sometime Thursday after 8 p.m. and 9 a.m. on Friday. Entry was gained by prying open a steel door. Taken was cash, five cases of Mike's Hard Lemonade, 10 cartons of cigarettes and various other items.The residence of Ruth Katie Dunkel, Pheasant Run Rd., in Orwigsburg, West Brunswick Township, was entered sometime before 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 18. Entry was gained by smashing a window to a back door and reaching inside and unlocking the door. The criminals rummaged through a closet and several dresser drawers in bedrooms throughout the home.
