The Tamaqua Area High School Student Government Association has announced a Homecoming Parade to be held on Thursday, October 8.
The parade will step off from the former-Maff Motors at 6 p.m. and proceed west on Broad Street (Route 209). The parade will conclude at Our Family Mini-Mart.The parade will be led by Grand Marshal "Coach" Richard "Dick" Jones and include the Raider Marching Band and Alumni band, all 12 homecoming candidates for King and Queen, as well as the Tamaqua Cheerleaders and Football Team.Following the parade the 1st annual Homecoming Tailgate/Picnic, sponsored by the Tamaqua Area Leadership Council, will take place at Tamaqua Area Sports Stadium. Food and drink will be available for students, faculty, and alumni. The community is encouraged to attend. Entertainment will be provided by the student rock band "Story of Another."In the event of inclement weather, the parade and tailgate events will be cancelled.The Homecoming festivities and coronation of the king and queen will be held at halftime of the Tamaqua vs. North Schuylkill football game. The annual Homecoming dance will take place on Friday, October 9 following the halftime festivities of the football game. The dance will be held in the high school gymnasium until 11 p.m. Only Tamaqua Area School District students will be allowed to enter.
