Marsha Felsten, associate dean of workforce and community center for Lehigh Carbon Community College, addresses members of the Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce during a breakfast mixer held Wednesday morning, Sept. 30 at LCCC's Lisa Jane Scheller Student Center, located across the street from LCCC's Morgan Center Tamaqua campus. The mixer was sponsored by LCCC's Leadership and Workforce Development Center. Felsten explained how LCCC's programs can benefit the local workforce and employers. Using skill assessments, needs analysis tools, an annual training plan and customer-designed workshops, the center works with over 100 Lehigh Valley companies each year to improve performance, as well as assisting in grant funding opportunities for training. LCCC also offers courses for training the workforce for certain professions, such as certified nurses aides and pharmacy technicians. Logistics, project management, business writing and leadership communication courses are also available. More information can be obtained by calling Felsten at (610) 779-1219 or the Morgan Center at (570) 668-7296.
