Salem St. Paul's Lutheran Church
Salem St. Paul's Lutheran Church is grateful to Marge Murano for helping with the blood pressure screens this summer and in upcoming blood pressure recordings. This is part of a health ministry service that is quick, free and good preventive medicine. The health ministry team is also appreciative of the Weglarz family. Teddy Weglarz has been the inspiration for a number of successful blood drives offered by SSP and it has been a privilege to do this in honor of Teddy. They will resume blood drives next year in conjunction with Keystone-Miller Bloodmobile. In the meantime, please consider donating blood at the Polk Township Fire Hall during the first week in October.Food offering every first Sunday helps feed the hungry in the West End. Please bring boxes or cans of food any time and place them in the barrel by the church office. SSP sets aside the first Sunday to help all remember. The PVEN volunteers take the food on Tuesdays. If you need food, clothing or rental assistance, call the director of PVEN, Eloise Laubach, at (570) 992-3136. Harvest Home is Oct. 11, so food is welcome then, too.Historical society meetingThe Polk Township Historical Society will meet on Monday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. at the Polk Township Municipal Building in Kresgeville. The evening's speaker will be Dr. Roy Christman. Dr. Christman will discuss the ongoing preservation of historic buildings in Towamensing Township. Everyone is invited to attend this special presentation, and new members are always welcome.
