www.lccc.edu/foundation.Applications for the Scheller Scholarship, specifically given for a Schuylkill County resident, who has graduated from LCCC's Morgan Center, may be sent to the Foundation until May 1, 2010. The scholarships will provide aid to deserving graduates of LCCC's Morgan Center who wish to pursue a four-year degree at Kutztown University, Bloomsburg University or approved state and other institutions.Restrictions apply. A.A.S. degree in spring 2009 or later.The applicant must be a current Schuylkill County resident as well as a Schuylkill County resident during attendance and graduation from LCCC.The applicant must have a current grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 at the time of application and at the point of graduation. (Application must include LCCC transcript.)The applicant must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) prior to April 1 of each year.The applicant must be accepted by the approved institution in a program of study that can be completed full-time in two years.The scholarship opportunities are made possible by the generosity of the Roberta and Ernest Scheller, Jr., Family Foundation. Without the Scheller Scholarship, it would have been financially difficult for me to attend DeSales University. The Scheller Scholarship provided me with the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of a private university, such as one-on-one attention from professors and small class sizes. I am very fortunate to be able to graduate with my Bachelor's degree without any debt."My education is one of the most important parts of life to me, even more so now after receiving the Scheller Scholarship. I consider my education to be one of the greatest gifts, and I plan to always continue learning.Her advice to future Scheller Scholarship recipients would be to "appreciate the great gift that has been given to you and work to your fullest potential. The fact that others are funding your education is another source of motivation to do well."She is currently looking for a job as an Elementary Education teacher.She says she can not begin to thank the Schellers enough for their kindness and generosity."They have helped me to receive a better education than I ever would have otherwise. They have truly made a difference in my life."Ashley hopes someday she will be able to give back to her community."I would definitely consider starting a scholarship like this one because it provides students who have the ambition to work hard with the opportunity to receive an excellent education. I would encourage others to start a scholarship similar to the Scheller Scholarship because there are many students who aspire to work hard but are lacking the financial resources. Scholarships such as the Scheller Scholarship can really change the lives of those who receive them, and hopefully those who receive them can make a difference in the lives of other people throughout the world."
