For those who love cars, good food, entertainment and fun, stop by the Lehigh Township Benefit Festival and Car Show on Sunday, Oct. 4, at Becky's Drive In, 4548 Lehigh Drive, Walnutport (Berlinsville). The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Raindate is Oct. 11.
The event opens at 8 a.m. Breakfast will be served in the refreshment stand until 10:30 a.m.Throughout the day, there will be a car show hosted by Blue Ridge Rod and Custom Car Club.Hodge Podge DJ will be offering music by screen one and Jolly Holly, a balloon twister and clown will be strolling the grounds.Live entertainment will be taking place through the day. From noon to 3 p.m., Twitty Fever Band will be at screen two, and the Dream Kids will be appearing at screen one from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. From noon to 1 p.m., Middle Earth Studios will be offering a costumed story telling program for all ages. Children are invited to act out part of the play.At 2:30 p.m., there will be a cake walk and Car Show awards will be presented at 3 p.m.During the afternoon, visit the Fire Safety House by Lehigh Township Fire Company and visit with the EMAs with the Northampton County Emergency Management Mobile Command Center.Among the displays to be available are Austin Kochenach's No. 66 late model race car and the Circus Model Display by David "Deacon" Blanchfield Ring No. 86.Food vendors include Coke and hot dogs by Lehigh Township Lions Club, peach cobbler by Boy Scout Troop 15, apple dumplings and ice cream by Venture Crew 115, haluski, kielbasa, sausage sandwiches and fresh french fries by Boy Scout Troop 40, sausage sandwiches and hamburgers by Cub Pack 201, funnel cake and ice cream by St. Paul UCC and Venture Crew 115; and pork and barbecue chicken by Lorah's Gap View Farms.Children's activities include "pumpkin lane," games, pumpkin face painting by Susquehanna Bank in Cherryville and trackless kiddie fire engine rides and moon bounce, hayrides by Boy Scout Troop 40 and a petting zoo by Lorah's Gap View Farm.There will also be a flea market and craft service.
