State Rep. Julie Harhart (R-Northampton/Lehigh) has rescheduled her college financial aid seminar for area students and parents from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31, at Whitehall-Coplay Middle School.
Harhart is encouraging students in 10th, 11th and 12th grades from Catasauqua, Northampton, Northern Lehigh, Parkland and Whitehall-Coplay high schools and their parents to attend the informational seminar.
Northern Lehigh Community Lent Services will be held each Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
The Slatington area churches will join together for mid-week services. Worship will be followed by fellowship with refreshments.
The 2010 biblical theme is "The Words of Jesus Spoken from His Cross."
The schedule of Lenten services is as follows: Feb. 24, Friedens Church/Rev. LeVan; March 3, St. John's Lutheran/Rev. Mohr; March 10, United Presbyterian/Rev. Haab; March 17, St. John's UCC/Rev. Zimmerman; March 24, Slatington Baptist/Rev. Diefenderfer.
The GFWC-PA Woman's Club of Slatington will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 15, at St. John's Lutheran Church on Second St. in Slatington.
Jessica Ballas, one of the area's massage therapists, will instruct members and guests in the art of bellydancing. All interested area women are welcome to attend.
The GFWC-PA Woman's Club of Slatington will meet on Monday, Feb. 15, at 7 p.m. in the social hall of St. John's Lutheran Church on Second Street in Slatington.
The evening's program will discuss heart health for women.
There will be a free How to Study Workshop for Students and Parents, grades 2-8, offered by the Northern Lehigh School District on Tuesday, Feb. 9, at Peters Elementary School.
The workshop, hosted by Richard P. Gallagher, is for both Parents and Students with a free complimentary dinner provided prior to the workshop.
The dinner will be provided from 6:30-7 p.m., followed by the How to Study presentation from 7-8:15 p.m.
Free How to Study books by Gallagher will be raffled at the end of the presentation.
The Slatington Public Library will present The Wonderful World of Wildlife reading program from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 20. The program is open to children age 3 to Grade 5. All are welcome.
The library's preschool reading program is held on Tuesday at 11 a. m., on the following dates: Jan. 26, Feb. 2, 9, 16, and 23.
Visitors are encouraged to watch the library's windows for a display of Geraldine Schafer's gingerbread houses and creations.
The library accepts book donations with the exception of encyclopedias, text books, and Reader's Digest.
