Blaze destroys Monroe auto repair business, cars
Multiple vehicles were damaged after a fire broke out Monday afternoon at a business in Brodheadsville.
West End Fire Company Chief Mike Manfre Jr. said firefighters were dispatched at 5:17 p.m. to Team Performance at 619 Dairy Lane.
Manfre said that upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire inside the building, which was about 70% involved, as well as multiple working car fires within the building along with the building itself on fire.
“It took a little bit of time to get all the incoming departments there and water established, as all the water had to be trucked in,” said Manfre, who added multiple dump tanks were put on the ground for the tankers to put water in, and two aerial trucks just to dump water in and keep them moving. “With the temperature with the high humidity, it was a lot on the guys as well.”
Manfre said it took firefighters close to an hour to get the fire under control.
He said firefighters remained on scene until 9:17 p.m.
Traffic was detoured off Route 209 in the area of Dairy Lane.
Manfre said there were no injuries, but that all the vehicles inside and the building are a total loss.
He said the cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation by a state fire marshal, who was expected to be on-scene today.
Manfre said over a dozen fire companies from Monroe County and Northampton County responded, as did the Salvation Army with its canteen truck to provide refreshments, while Lehigh Valley Health Network EMS provided rehab.
“For the temperature outside and the amount of fire, everything went well; we didn’t have any major issues except water,” Manfre said.
“Once we got everything established, everything went smoothly after that once we had everything in place and in operation, and everyone went home after the fact, no injuries or anything reported.”
