Ashland residents express surprise, disbelief about White House incident
Ashland area residents are expressing shock and disbelief today after learning that a young man from their community was shot by Secret Service on Friday after taking a gun near a White House checkpoint at E Street, according to police.
Jesse Olivieri of Butler Township was taken into custody and treated for a gunshot wound to the abdomen after the 3 p.m. incident.
According to reports, Olivieri had attended North Schuylkill Junior-Senior High School and is well known in the community.
Schuylkill County Courthouse records indicate the Olivieri family has owned the wood frame house at 119 Malones Rd. in Butler Township since 1974.

According to reports, Olivieri was ordered to put his gun down, did not comply and was shot by Secret Service personnel.

The White House was briefly placed on a security alert.
The shooting took place within view of tourists and sightseers.
