Filling sale
St. Matthew’s UCC, Kunkletown, is selling homemade filling. Orders are due on Nov. 12. Pickup is set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17. Payment is to be made then.
Garden Club
The Monroe County Garden Club will meet at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 8, at the Kettle Creek Environmental Center, 8050 Running Valley Road, Stroudsburg. The design theme: Home for the Holidays. Table setting for one, designer’s choice of holiday theme. Floral design required, fresh and/or dried materials. Horticulture theme: Evergreen stem.
The meeting will begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by lunch, followed by program.
Everyone interested in gardening is welcome to attend. There is a cost for nonmembers (applied to one’s membership). Luncheon included.

Commission meets
The West End Park and Open Space Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 8, at the Chestnuthill Township Park Building on Route 715 in Brodheadsville.
Park cleaning
A cleanup for the West End Regional Park is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Nov. 11. Community members are invited to participate in this effort to remove litter and trash from around the West End Regional Park. Gloves, vests and bags will be provided. The event provides community service projects for individuals, families and organizations. Call 570-992-9733 to register.
Veterans Day
At 11 a.m. Nov. 11, American Legion Post 927 on Fairgrounds Road in Gilbert will hold a special ceremony to honor all veterans’ services. Guest speakers will be included. Light refreshments will be served.
The Post is now accepting unwrapped toys for the annual USMC Reserve’s Toys for Tots. Donations can be dropped off at the Gilbert post.
Veterans parade
The Monroe County Veterans Day parade will be held in Stroudsburg, beginning at 1 p.m. Nov. 12.

Donations sought
Effort UMC’s Supplemental Food Resource Center is in need of items such as canned yams, turkeys, turkey gravy, turkey broth, stuffing mix, frozen pie crust or box pie crust mix, canned vegetables, potatoes, and pie filling for its Thanksgiving outreach to families in need. All donations must be brought to the pantry before Nov. 17.
Clothing swap
Pleasant Valley schools will hold a clothing swap in the Pleasant Valley Elementary cafeteria from 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 18
The clothing swap is open to all parents/guardians of students in the Pleasant Valley School District buildings. To participate, parents may bring standardized dress clothing, shoes, winter coats and boots in good condition to any district building front offices.
All items are to be clean.
When bringing in items one will receive a voucher for the amount of clothing that one has brought in.
Clothing will be accepted for the swap through Nov. 16
Families can then bring their vouchers to the PVE cafeteria, where they will be able to exchange the voucher for clothing and/or coats and shoes in the correct sizes for their child/children on Nov. 18. Leftover clothing will be donated to the Cub Closet.
Anyone who does not wish to participate but has standardized dress clothing that has been outgrown is asked consider donating the clothing to the Cub Closet.
Names needed
Operation: Touch of Home is ramping up for its 2017 Fall Drive taking place Nov. 18 and Nov. 19. Members will be collecting donations both days at Kinsley’s ShopRite in Brodheadsville and boxing care packages to send to deployed U.S. military troops at the American Legion Post 927 in Gilbert.
Needed are not only donations to include in the care packages, but also names and addresses of any deployed military member currently serving in hostile areas overseas.
Anyone who has or knows a military member currently deployed and would like for them to receive care packages from Operation: Touch of Home is asked to fill out a GI Information Form so that the group will be able to send care packages to them with a little Touch of Home.

Craft show
The 36th annual craft show to benefit the Western Pocono Community Library will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 19 at the library on Pilgrim Way in Brodheadsville.
It will include many crafters, basket raffles, available refreshments and more, as well as free parking.
