The annual Carbon County Hall of Fame banquet will be held on Sunday, May 25 at Memorial Hall in Jim Thorpe.

Bonner Jr.A 1964 graduate of Nesquehoning High School, Mike Bonner was co-captain of the football team. He was a three-year letterman of the last graduating class of Nesquehoning High School.He was honorable mention All-State in football as a senior and was on the "Dram Team". After graduation, he taught and coached in the Northern Lehigh School District for 35 years. He coached football, track and field and basketball. He retired as the High School Guidance Counselor after 35 years.Mike coached track and field for 32 years. He coached long jump, triple jump, distance runners and the hurdles. The 1980, 1999 and 2004 teams were league champs. During that time, his hurdlers went to states numerous times.Bonner was also an assistant football coach for 19 years and head coach for five years at Northern Lehigh. The 1968, 1969 and 1974 teams were Lehigh Valley League champions and the 1981 team was Centennial League champs. He was the defensive coordinator those years.Seven years ago, Mike's son Sam because head football coach at Tamaqua. Mike was hired as a defensive coach. The Raiders have been in two Eastern Conference playoffs and two District 11 playoffs. The 2012 team finished 10-0 in the regular season and won the Anthracite League Championship. Mike has a combined 46 years of coaching.Mike is married to the former Ann Marie Pagano. The have two sons, Michael and Sam. They also have three grandchildren; Michael Shannon and Aubrey.Joseph "Maxie" DamianoA rugged, tough as nails competitor, best describes the late Joseph "Maxie" Damiano.Maxie, a 1951 graduate of Nesquehoning High School, was a stellar cager for the Neqsquers, but was more known for his football prowess. He played four years on the gridiron, three years as the starting quarterback and defensive linebacker.Head coach Tony Mezza and assistant Sam Pagano employed the single-wing offense, with most of the snaps going to the tailback or fullback with the quarterback doing the blocking.Game after game his crushing blocks opened the holes for Ted Drigan, Johnny Feddock and Bobby Coombes. Damiano also handled the kicking off and placekicking duties.In 1950-51, the team went 6-2-1 with one of the highlights being when Maxie scored the only touchdown to upset Coaldale 6-0 halting the Tigers' 24-game win streak. By defeating all of the valley teams, Nesquehoning captured the first leg of the "Mythical Panther Valley Championship."Damiano was selected as the starting quarterback and linebacker for the Carbon-Schuylkill All-Star game.After graduation, despite offers to play college football, Joseph, the oldest son of a widowed mother and with younger siblings, went to work for Mack Trucks and later the Greenwood Stripping Corporation. At the age of 19, his life ended tragically on Oct. 7, 1952 when he suffered a work-related accident.Joseph was the son of the late Fred and Virginia Damiano. He is survived by four sisters, Philomena Gogel, Micholena Eremus, Josephine Oliveria and Virginia Mele; two brothers Baptis Damiano (a 2008 inductee) and Anthony "Kiki" Damiano (a 2006 inductee).Bob McMichaelBob graduated from Panther Valley High School in 1970, where he played basketball and track.During his junior year, he broke the high jump record his first time in competition.Bob was a forward on the 1969 District 11 Class B Championship team. The Panthers won the North Schuylkill League Championship and Carbon County title that year. He scored 333 points despite not starting until the 10th game of the season. He was selected second team All-League.During his senior year, Bob led the Panthers to their fourth consecutive District 11 Class B Championship playoff game, but they came up short. He scored 451 points for an average of 19.7 points per game. His highest score in one game was 36 points, a record at that time. He finished his career with 784 points.He was named Honorable mention All-American (All-American Report), Honorable Mention All-State (U.P.I.), First team All-North Schuylkill League and Second Team All-Anthracite.After graduating from high schoo, McMichael went on to play basketball and track and field at Fork Union Military Academy in Virginia.In 1972, he was employed by Mack Trucks in Allentown. He played basketball and softball in the industrial league for Mack Trucks.Bob retired from Mack Trucks and resides in Nesquehoning and St. Augustine, Florida.Bob is the son of the late Charles and Helen McMichael.
